Historically, Leeds Road was Huddersfield Town's home from 1908 to 1994, and the Cow Shed Stand was one of the iconic stands at the stadium. It was known for its passionate supporters and atmosphere during matches. When Huddersfield Town moved to the McAlpine Stadium as it was when it opened in 1994, the tradition of naming stands after their location continued, and a new Cow Shed Stand was established in the new stadium.
